Greetings,

It is with great pleasure that we welcome you to the Nadaburg Unified School District community education program.  Our community education department is responsible for our preschool programs and before/after school programs.  We are proud of the programs we have to offer our community that are of high quality.

Both of our preschool programs participate in Quality First.  Through support programs, rigorous evaluations, and monitoring, you can be assured we have one of the best preschool programs in the area.  We have a limited number of scholarships available through the First Things First program and an Early Head Start partnership for 1- and 2- year-old children with the Maricopa County office.

Our before and after-school programs have signed the pledge to provide quality programming in our before and after school programs.  We have implemented the Arizona Afterschool Center for Excellence quality standards.

We look forward to serving you and your family with your community education needs. It is our goal to provide quality care within a learning environment. If you feel we fall short of that goal, I urge you to reach out to me at 623-250-7748 or the site director.

Sincerely,

Holly Diaz, M.Ed.

How Payments are Calculated
Payments are calculated on a daily rate for enrolled programs, and leveled over a ten-month period, regardless of the number of days in a month.

Available Discounts
Families with more than one child enrolled in a community education program will receive a ten percent discount.  Discounts will be applied to each child after the first child.  Discounts will always be applied to the highest tuition rate.  Families that pay the entire year of tuition in advance will be provided a 10% discount.  This option is not available for students who enroll in a program after March 1st.

Program Withdrawal
If a child(ren) needs to withdraw from a program, the parent/guardian must withdraw the child(ren) and they must inform the community education program.  This may be done by providing a written letter; contacting us via telephone; or completing a withdrawal form.  If a child is not withdrawn we will make the assumption that the child will still be attending and continue to bill for enrolled services.  Families may request a temporary stop of services for up to thirty (30) consecutive calendar days without having to reenroll their child.  You must notify us in writing.  Waivers will be granted for emergency reasons only, such as a family illness or other emergent matter.  If there is an active waiting list for the enrolled program(s) the waiver will not be granted, and tuition will need to be paid.

Child Find

Nadaburg Unified School District is looking for students aged 2 years 9 months through 5 years who may have suspected delays.

Research shows that early intervention is crucial for children with special needs. Unfortunately, many preschoolers in Arizona who require these services go unrecognized.

If you’re a parent or guardian of a preschool child within the Nadaburg Unified School District who may be experiencing developmental delays, please reach out to the NUSD Child Find Team at (623) 253-6856 to schedule a complimentary screening.

Here are some areas to consider:

Does your child have difficulty with any of the following?

· Recognizing people or objects

· Hearing sounds or voices

· Speaking clearly or being easily understood

· Moving, including crawling, walking, or running

· Playing and interacting with others

· Engaging appropriately with peers and adults

· Developing cognitive or academic skills

Additional information on developmental milestones can be found here: Developmental Milestones

If you answered yes to one or more of these statements, the Nadaburg Unified School District can provide screenings for special services for all children, from age 2 years 9 months to 21 years, who reside in our district boundaries. This includes migrant and homeless students, wards of the state, private and home-schooled students.

To Schedule a Child Find Screening:

For preschool age children, (ages 3 to 5 years but not kinder age eligible) you may:

· Complete this Form, Request for Child Find Screening and a member of our team will reach out to you to schedule a free appointment.

· Call our NUSD Child Find Screening line at (623) 253-6856.

School Age Children: For school age children, age 5-21, who are currently attending a NUSD school, please contact the child’s school administrator, teacher, or school psychologist for that given campus.

For school age children, age 2 years and 9 months-21 years, not attending a Nadaburg school but who reside within our boundaries, or attend a Private School located within our boundaries, contact Exceptional Student Services at (623) 253-6856.

Questions: If you have any questions about the Child Find Process here in the Nadaburg Unified School District, please do not hesitate to reach out to Erika Chapman, ESS Coordinator, via email at echapman@nadaburgsd.org.

Students Younger than 2 Years 9 Months:

If you have concerns about your child's development and your child is currently younger than 2 years 9 months, please contact the Arizona Early Intervention Program (AzEIP).

The Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEA)requires that public school agencies ensure all children (from birth through age 21) with delays or developmental disabilities are identified, located, and evaluated to receive the supports and services they need. This includes all children living within the geographic boundaries of the school district – those who are homeless or wards of the state, are attending private schools, or are home schooled. Public schools and the Arizona Early Intervention Program are responsible for “finding” eligible children and providing services needed for them to reach their developmental milestones or meet their educational needs.

If you reside within the Nadaburg Unified School district and would like to schedule a free Child Find Screening for your child, please contact NUSD Child Find: (623) 253-6856.
