Safe Rides. Every Student. Every Day.

The safety of our students is the highest priority of Nadaburg Unified School District Transportation Services. Our transportation team is committed to providing students with safe, reliable, and respectful transportation to and from school each day.

Families play an important role in helping us keep every ride safe. Please review transportation expectations with your child and encourage them to follow the directions of their bus driver at all times.

Bus Safety Expectations

Students are expected to:

Follow the bus driver's directions the first time they are given.
Remain properly seated while the bus is in motion.
Keep hands, feet, belongings, and other objects inside the bus.
Keep aisles and emergency exits clear.
Use a quiet, conversational voice and appropriate language.
Treat the driver and other passengers with respect.
Keep hands, feet, and objects to themselves.
Help maintain a clean and safe bus environment.
Follow all District and school behavior expectations while riding the bus.

For the safety of all passengers, students should not bring items onto the bus that may create a safety hazard or interfere with seating or aisles. This may include glass containers, animals, skateboards, oversized objects, or other prohibited items.

At the Bus Stop

Students should arrive at their assigned bus stop with enough time to be ready before the bus arrives. Students should remain a safe distance from the roadway and wait until the bus has stopped and the driver indicates it is safe to board.

After exiting the bus, students should move safely away from the vehicle and follow the driver's directions whenever crossing in front of the bus.

Changes to Transportation

Students should ride their assigned bus and exit at their designated stop.

If a special circumstance requires a change to your student's normal transportation arrangements, please contact the appropriate school or Transportation/Dispatch Office. Changes may require parent/guardian authorization and must follow District transportation procedures.

For student safety, transportation changes should never be communicated only through the student.

Respectful & Safe Transportation

The school bus is an extension of the school environment. Behavior that creates an unsafe environment for the driver or passengers may result in disciplinary action, including the temporary or extended loss of transportation privileges in accordance with District policy.

Serious safety concerns may include:

Refusing to follow the driver's safety directions
Providing false information when identification is requested
Damaging a bus, bus stop, or another person's property
Fighting, threatening, or physically harming another person
Engaging in behavior that interferes with the driver's ability to safely operate the bus

Our goal is always to work with students and families to maintain a safe transportation environment for everyone.

Lost & Found

Students are encouraged to keep track of their personal belongings while riding District transportation. The District cannot guarantee the recovery of lost or misplaced items; however, our transportation staff will make reasonable efforts to return found items to their owners.
